trying hard to overcome....

Hi, this is my first stab at this, so I hope just writing some feelings is all it takes at the moment. I have been undergoing rounds of chemotherapy for a relapsed stem cell transplant for hodgkins lymphoma. I take many shots of neupogen for increase of my white cells and the bone pain is very severe these days.

Today I was asked to go for a focus group for chemotherapy in NYC and I was selected. One of the questions I was asked was, "If I could hang out in a cafe with a star or someone famous who would it be and what would I want to discuss?" I immediately thought of the model Emme and that I had read she had overcome the same cancer and I said I would like to talk with her and compare notes on diet and lifestyle and coping with this disease.

I then found she had a site online and so I have joined. If anyone has something to say I would love to talk. Right now, I am feeling tired and have to get off computer, but I hope some people read this and help me with some new friends.

Hi Liz! Welcome. Boy, I was right there with you this time last year. All I have to say is you are going to feel better in time, but right now do what you can, ask your friends to come with you and become your chemo buddies (they bring food, books, magazines, or whatever for you while you're in treatment)...now is the time to go slow, eat well when you can (juice green juice only with your doctor knowing...a must) So glad you were picked for the focus group and got to join Emmestyle.

Your short hair looks amazing!

I am about to turn in and am exhausted from the day but look so forward to chatting with you here on out!

Let us know what you are up to as much or as little. we have wonderful members who will pop in from time to time to say hi and offer some encouragement.

Nice to meet you Liz!

Emme, Thanks for blogging me. I am very pleased! I had gone through a whole year of chemo and stem cell transplant and this thing came back, so I am doing it all over again.

Yesterday I had chemo and it is hard but not so bad. The worst thing now is that I have to take an early retirement from work as I am a high school Librarian and cannot be in contact with that environment and cannot take any more time off, but I keep trying to take it one day at a time, and I will get through it.

I am sure your life is very busy and I thank you again for taking time to talk with me. I admire you very much. You have a lovely daughter as I saw your article in people magazine last year. I hope you are doing well in your remission.

Take care and hope to hear from you soon. Liz

Hi Liz!

I'm so glad you've joined in. As you can see, Emme is very nurturing. :)

I wish I had something wonderfully comforting to say to you but I really have no experience with what you are going through. I'm just sorry you have to go through it and I wish you much success with your therapy.

I hope you will check in soon when your energy level allows.
