Dont break the bank with trendy pieces! Shop a few stores before buying. Be an educated consumer because fashion can be found in a multitude of price levels. I suggest going to the best stores first to see WHAT is happening shape wize, trend wize, and color wize. Then buy according to your budget. Do not buy on impulse, it will only lead you to the poorhouse with a lot of ill fitting clothes!
First buy a few items that are tried and true for your wardrobe...layering pieces in a variety of colors for the layering looks, good fitting jeans, leggings, long layered skirts and a classic big white shirt are a must!
Let your bag and shoes be where you can play around a bit to show you are in the know...the big bag has been in for a while and can carry all you need at school and after!
Flats continue to rage as well as the polar opposite on the runway with 5 inch heels being seen in all magazines.
My rule is: if your shoes are painful, being fashionable just isn't worth it!
Embellished tunic tops can be worn with leggings with cute flat skimmers...add a thick belt and your are off!
Most importantly is to have fun with your own style and not be a slave to what is happening on the fashion pages. If a trend color, say deep purple is your color, I would pick up a sweater and possibly a bag or hair band in the color. You'll wear it forever!
If you find a good fitting pant, a really excellent pant for your body shape, don't leave the store without buying two. You wont regret it. Especially if you go back to the store and cant find it again!
If you choose to make your own fashion statement at your school, do so with conviction and enjoy being free from the confines of what everyone else is doing...clearly you dance to your own drum beat and more power to ya!
